History of the S’MORE and Recipes

Camping isn’t complete without that ooey gooey campfire dessert that we all remember eating as kids. How much mom loved wiping off that dried melted marshmallow off our cheeks! Holding the stick or skewer into the fire, watch as the marshmallow caught a small flame, blowing it out quick, then mashing it between two graham crackers and Hershey’s chocolate. Does it get any better? Yes, it does.

The first known s’more recipe documentation dates back to a Girl Scout handbook published in 1927. Loretta Scott Crew, is credited for the recipe when she made it for the Girl Scouts during this time.

For the first time this year, BTI Whitewater is offering camping along the Shenandoah River. The fee is $25.00 per site and we have over 25 sites to choose from. If you participate in a BTI activity, receive $5.00 off your campsite reservation. There is river access for personal canoeing or kayaking and camp fire rings. We also offer discounted prices for renting our kayaks and canoes. Call us to make reservations! 1-877-723-8284
