Inspired by music, husband and wife wine making team, Steve and Shannon Mackey, combined the words “nota” for music note and “viva” for life to create their stylish name, Notaviva. For their wines, they pair each wine name with a musical genre or lyrical inspiration. Music and wine have always been a good pair, and the winery  has regular live music scheduled at their tasting room.

They offer signature Virginia reds such as Cab Franc and Chambourcin along with signature Virginia whites such as the semi-dry Viognier and sweeter Vidal Blanc. Please join us at the wine bar this Saturday and Sunday to taste Notatviva’s wonderful wine selection!

Join the tasting for only $2 with any tubing trip to taste all the wines featured each weekend. Anyone who does a different activity at BTI or joining us off the Virginia wine trail pays $5. The wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle, and bottles can be opened and enjoyed on our patio.

The first known s’more recipe documentation dates back to a Girl Scout handbook published in 1927. Loretta Scott Crew, is credited for the recipe when she made it for the Girl Scouts during this time.

For the first time this year, BTI Whitewater is offering camping along the Shenandoah River. The fee is $25.00 per site and we have over 25 sites to choose from. Saturday, June 11th, Loudoun Valley Vineyards located in Waterford, VA will be pouring and selling their wine. Coming to us from the Northern Virginia region they have a wide variety of signature Virginia wines such as the chilled white Seyval, Traminette wine and the light bodied red, Chambourcin.

Sunday, June 12th Nic with Veritas from Afton, VA will return to pour and sell! Afton is located just 20 miles west of Charlottesville in the Monticello region, Virginia’s oldest and most historical region, thanks to Thomas Jefferson. Veritas’s delicious Rose’ with subtle strawberry jam on the nose and pallate, a Viognier with hints of peach and apricot along with their ever popular Red Star with its blend of Chambourcin, Cab Franc and Merlot, a rare red that can be chilled and enjoyed on a hot humid day!
